This January’s Opera Brunch at The Merchant Tavern was a lovely example of why supporting our local arts community is one of “our favourite things.” We were delighted to co-sponsor this event, which helped promote Opera on the Avalon’s upcoming Sound of Music production

A unique and moving morning, cast members treated us to performances of everyone’s favourite Sound of Music pieces, while we enjoyed a delicious brunch from our hosts. Lead Lara Ciekiewicz, who plays Maria, kicked off the morning with a stunning rendition of the opera’s title song.

Kevin Aichele,  playing Captain von Trapp, gave a rendition of ‘Edelweiss’ that left goosebumps.

As co-sponsors of this event, we were more than happy to provide both Lara and Cheryl Hickman, Artistic Director of Opera on the Avalon, with their jewellery wardrobe for the morning. We’re not sure who sparkled more!

As you can see, Lara absolutely glowed (in over 9.0 carats of diamonds!). She wore an Italian 18k yellow gold large oval link necklace and bracelet with diamond rondels, 14k yellow gold inside-outside diamond hoop earrings, and a gorgeous Simon G 18k white gold mosaic ring.

And Cheryl was radiant in an Italian 18k rose and white gold heart pendant with pave set diamonds, 18k white gold bouquet stud earrings, an 18k white and yellow gold Simon G fashion ring, and a beautiful Fope 18k rose gold stretch bracelet with diamond rondel.

We also set up a jewellery buffet, for which the Opera on the Avalon sold raffle tickets. Anna Patten was our lucky winner, who chose a Black Onyx Tacori Fashion necklace and earring set to take home.

We’d like to once again thank The Merchant Tavern for helping sponsor such a wonderful morning supporting our arts community, and of course the cast of Sound of Music for their lovely work. We can’t wait to see the Sound of Music live. It’s coming up February 17 – 19 at Holy Heart Theatre (tickets would make a great Valentine’s Day gift!).

We believe in supporting our community, so we sponsor great events like this throughout the year. Please make sure you’re following us on Facebook so you don’t miss the next.
